fetes in marseillan

On Bastille day (July 14th) the whole of the town erupts into a day of festivities. There are parades, stalls, the Fête du Capelet (greasy pole festival) and music and dancing in the streets.

Venture out into the beautiful country, at only a short distance from Marseillan and you will find a wealth of beautiful and historic places to visit, ancient Cathar castles, abbey's, spectacular gorges, grotto's and caves, the cities of Beziers, Narbonne, Carcasonne, and the beautiful town of Nimes, visit Sete, the second largest fishing port in France, and when you tire of all this, just sit and relax at a waterside bar under a large umbrella with a cool drink to hand, and watch the town going about its business.
