our house in marseillan

The first and most important piece of information is that the house is only 2-3 minutes walk from the centre of Marseillan. Just a short distance from the shops, banks, bars, and a wide and varied selection of fabulous restaurants. No need to take the car, enjoy a superb meal with a bottle of wine, have a coffee at the restaurant or at one of the local bars, and then just a short walk home.

The house is of traditional style built on three floors, but had not been occupied for about 100 years until we bought it 1997.
We would like to take you on a brief tour of the accommodation we have to offer before showing you lots of interesting places to go and visit here in Marseillan.

Having no plumbing or heating it was necessary for the house to undergo complete restoration, this was done by local builders who had a very good understanding of what needed to be done. New tiled floors were laid, new plumbing and electric's installed with the latest fully automatic water heater which supplies constant hot water.

On the ground floor there are two single beds each with very comfortable mattresses, there is also a shower room with toilet, hand basin in a vanity unit with a shaving point. This room also contains the washing machine and modern water heater which supplies constant hot water - I must add that we do not charge extra for water or electricity used.

On the second floor are the two main bedrooms, one has two single beds and the other has a newly installed double bed, all with comfortable mattresses.

There is a colour TV which receives both French and English channels, also a radio/CD/cassette player, a selection of books and scrabble to use, when you tire of the beautiful countryside, fabulous vineyards, many restaurants, and 18 kilometres of beautiful safe and sandy beach.

The front portion of this room is the kitchen which contains a double sink, ceramic hob cooker, refrigerator, electric fan, kettle and microwave oven, a selection of pots and pans, cutlery, hair dryer, iron and ironing board and we hope just about everthing you would possible need.

The third part of the room has patio style doors which open to allow access onto the roof terrace. This terrace is completely private and has a table and chairs for those wishing to take their meals into the open.

The house has retained a number of its original features, for example, exposed roof beams, exposed masonry of some of the walls, and half way down the stairs there is the original corner stone basin where the original occupants would have washed (no longer in use).

The decoration throughout the house is white and its contents are completely new since refurbishment.
