In Marseillan you are spoilt for choice if you decide to eat out, there
are so many restaurants, brasserie, pizzeria, I will endeavour to name
and recommend but a few, all of which are typically French and offer
the most varied of menus, and are just a few minutes walk from the house.
I will not put them in any order of preference because each one is special
or unique in its own way.
La
Brasserie du Soleil
La Brasserie Du Soleil is situated at the waters edge at 34 Quai Antonin
Gros Tel 04.67.01.72.42.. This is a family operated restaurant who insure
a high degree of service, they offer a very extensive menu which includes
( Plat Du Jour ) and ( A La Carte ) also a very good selection of local
and other wines.
Nothing in my opinion could be better than to sit in the shade and enjoy
a drink, or an excellent meal and watch the activity of the boats.
Chez
Philippe
An extremely good bistro, very professional, with a menu that
starts at 15-20 E it is always advisable to book a table in advance.
(20 rue de Suffren tel. 04.67.01.70.62 )
Cote
Sud
18 quai Antonin Gros tel 04.67.01.72.42. this a little newer
than the others but I am told that it is good but perhaps a little more
expensive.
La
Table DEmilie
8 Place Carnot, 04.67.77.63.59. A stylish restaurant with a
good menu, perhaps just a little more expensive than some of the others
I have mentioned.
Le
Chalut
At Marseillan Plage, which is approximately two and a half miles
from the house there are many great places to eat, but I will name just
one, Le Chalut, Avenue de la Mediterranee tel 04.67.21.88.90. here they
offer a speciality which is called Marmite du Pecheur and for anyone
who likes shell fish this is a must.
Le
Scampi
Two other Restaurants that I must mention - 'Le Scampi',
Rue de la Mediterranee,(tel 04.01.62.73 ) - this is situated half way
down the main road. I will say firstly that the owner speaks English,
and the staff are quick and efficient and that you may dine either inside
or out. The menu is very varied, the quality and quantity is excellent
and at reasonable prices too. In my opinion, this is the best restaurant
in Marseillan Plage, and should be visited.
A short drive from
Marseillan, approximately
10 minutes you will arrive at Cap dAdge, here there is
everything, shops, yet more restaurants of every type, bars that stretch
along the entire waterfront where the visitor may sit in the cool of
the evening and take your coffee, have an ice cream, and be entertained
by extremely talented groups
Aux Delices d'Oc
8, Rue Vedel (derrier la Maire)
Tel 04-67-32-29-61
If you stand in front of the Hotel de Ville (town hall) to the right of this building is Rue Vedel. Just a few paces down this road you will find this Restaurant, I would recommend that you try here, the food is traditionally French, cooked to order in an open plan stainless steel kitchen and in my opinion very good and reasonable in price. The menu is in French with English translation and the young lady that takes your order speaks perfect English.
La
Nymphe
Telephone 04-67-78-36-52.
For those who love to eat fresh Oysters and Mussels and other seafood
that has just been caught in the Etang de Thau, which is ony the width
of the road from this Restaurant, this is a must.
You leave town and proceed on the road towards Meze, (10 minutes) go
through the town and stay on the main road for perhaps a further two
miles until on the right until you see a signpost for 'Bouzigues'. Turn
right here and you will find yourself facing the Etang de Thau, turn
left and proceed a short distance along the road, and La Nymphe is situated
on the left hand side of the road, where you will find ample parking.
Here also you may sit inside or outside, you will find an extensive
menu which is cooked freshly to your orders. The Restaurant does not
accept credit cards. From the house I would say it takes about 15 minutes
to get to, and is definately worth the drive.

Rossello - Buffet Libre

17709 LE PERTHUS (ELS LIMITS) (LA JONQUERA)
This Restaurant is great value, and although it sits upon the French?Spanish border town of Perthus, an hour or so drive from Marseillan, we feel its both worth the drive and the visit !
In this restaurant they offer a buffet libre at 15 euros - for this you may help yourself to whatever you want to eat in the way of superb salads, seafood hot or cold, then a choice of meat dishes hot or cold, then a choice of sweets and deserts hot or cold - there is a jug on each table so you may help yourself to as much red, white, rose or sparkling wine - all in all, there were over 140 different things to choose from when we were there, maybe more ! As well as this fabulous food, there is also a cofee tap, and the only thing they ask of you is that you only take as much as you can eat! we have never seen anything quite as good as this, and it was of excellent quality.
