The Languedoc region is renowned for its excellent wines, and Marseillan is no exception. Blessed with old vines, great weather, good soils and a host of interesting grape varieties, growers in this region are able to produce some lovely red and white wines.
As I have already said, Marseillan is in the heart of the wine producing area, and it is difficult to say where you may find the best wine, but my wife and I would like to mention just one wine producer - Domain de Moure who we visit every time we are in Marseillan. If you leave Marseillan and travel in the direction of Adge, a short distance on this road there is a turning on the right and a sign directing you towards the vineyard. As you approach there is a large sign in the shape of a wine bottle on the lefthand side of the road. Turn in here and follow the little road which will take you into the courtyard of a typically French country house, where you will be greeted by the resident owners. Here you may taste the wine, a most delightful full bodied Merlot, a Rose and a wonderful Chardonnay, all of which may be purchased either bottled or en vrac.
They really do produce some lovely wine !
